A suburban Holden salesman in Frankston, Victoria thought he was being taken for a ride when a phone call from an Australian Army Sergeant serving in Afghanistan asked for a 'near enough' replica of Garth Tander and Will Davison's 2009 Bathurst winning Commodore.

Wrapped from nose to tail in the livery of the Toll Holden Racing Team, the Series II Commodore SSV was specially ordered by 15-year Army veteran and Holden fanatic Sergeant Tara Gleeson while on assignment with Force Support Unit 4 in Afghanistan.

Finished by Exotic Kustoms and with its wheels powder coated in white, the otherwise standard Commodore SSV was the result of a flurry of emails between Sergeant Gleeson and Bay City Holden.

After spending time in the Frankston showroom Sergeant Gleeson's car was collected this week by one very excited new owner.

"I'm so excited that I finally get to see it in the metal and get behind the wheel," Sergeant Gleeson said.

"Home leave permitting, I'll be driving it to the V8 Supercar rounds at Phillip Island and Bathurst – it should turn a few heads.

"It definitely makes the days go by a bit faster when you've something as good as this to look forward to at home.

"And when I'm back on duty again it can keep my 1954 Holden FJ Special company in the garage."
