Audi announces new limited edition models

Audi has caught the limited edition bug, securing small numbers of TT RS, RS 5 and R8 for those who recognise a (relative) bargain.

The TT RS Limited Edition, with its exclusive S Tronic dual-clutch transmission was previewed at the Australian International Motor Show in Melbourne two months ago and the prestige importer aims to sell 45 units of the car in Australia, with buyers offered a selection of three colours: Ibis White, Phantom Black or Suzuka Grey.

Audi claims that the TT RS in this specification delivers $8460 worth of extra value, including: black exterior styling package, metallic paint, 19-inch alloy wheels in a five-spoke design, sports exhaust system, adaptive headlights, BOSE audio system, extended leather upholstery and LED interior lighting. These features come at no extra charge, according to the importer.

Also priced the same as the standard car, the RS 5 Coupe Limited Edition is offered in a choice of the same three colours available for the TT RS with S Tronic: Ibis White, Phantom Black and Suzuka Grey. Additional equipment for the limited edition model comprises: black exterior styling package, 20-inch alloy wheels in a five-spoke design, sports exhaust, panoramic glass sunroof, Bang & Olufsen audio system and a memory function for driver's seat linked to folding electrochromatic exterior mirrors.

Sport Suspension Plus is a new option for the RS 5 and is also available — at extra cost — on the Limited Edition model. Audi has also made available the option of RS bucket seats for the Limited Edition.

The R8 Carbon Edition is the third of the three limited edition models. Unlike the other two models, the purchase price for the Carbon Edition is higher (by $10,900) than the respective cars on which it's based. Audi claims that it incorporates features worth $38,100 to more than offset the added cost.

Those features consist of 19-inch alloy wheels, carbonfibre cosmetic package (front spoiler/rear diffuser/sideblade/mirror housings/door sills) and black exterior package. Just 10 units will be allocated for Australia, in either coupe or Spyder body styles. Exterior colours available are: Ibis White, Phantom Black, Suzuka Grey and Daytona Grey.
